Another great thing about Oval Diamonds are that they face-up proportionally much larger than most other shapes when compared side-by-side. Remember that "carat" is only a measurement of weight, it doesn’t mean how large the diamond actually appears. Ovals happen to face-up much larger than other diamond shapes because most of their carat weight is located on top of the diamond, versus most of the other shapes where more weight is located towards the bottom. For example, a one carat oval diamond will always appear bigger than a one carat round diamond.
